Closing an Event & Dealing Remaining Cards

Closing an event official ends an event.

Updated over a week ago

At the end of your poker run, it’s important to close the event. Closing finalizes the event in the system, wraps up all activity, freezes scoring, and unlocks payout processing through Stripe (if applicable).

You will also have the option to Deal Remaining Cards to finalize incomplete hands.

πŸ“ Where to Close the Event

To close your event:

Manage Events β†’ Select Event β†’ More Event Options β†’ Close Event

πŸ’Έ Stripe Setup Required for Paid Events

If your event involved selling hands or items, you must complete payout setup before closing the event.

You’ll be prompted to:

  • Connect an existing Stripe account, or

  • Create a new Stripe account

This ensures collected funds can be transferred to your designated payout account.

⚠️ Important: Closing This Event Will Have the Following Impact

Before confirming closure, please understand:

  • Participants will no longer be able to receive new cards at any stops.

  • No new registrations or additional hands can be purchased.

  • Users who have not redeemed shared hands before the event is closed will not receive cards if they redeem after closure.

  • Managed Hands that have not yet been accepted may still be accepted, but no additional cards will be dealt.

Closing an event permanently ends all gameplay activity.

πŸ”’ What Happens When You Close an Event?

🚫 Registration is permanently closed
πŸ›‘ No additional hands or event items can be sold
πŸƒ Card dealing stops immediately
πŸ“Š Leaderboards are frozen
πŸ” You will be prompted with the option to Deal Remaining Cards

πŸƒ Dealing Remaining Cards (Optional)

After closing your event, you’ll see a Deal Remaining Cards button.

This feature allows you to:

  • Instantly deal all undealt cards to eligible participants

  • Automatically complete incomplete poker hands

  • Finalize standings for leaderboard and prize distribution

⚠️ Important: Cards Will NOT Be Dealt To The Following

When using Deal Remaining Cards, cards will not be dealt to:

  • Hands associated with participants who have a pending Will Call order that has not been checked in

  • Participants with unredeemed hands

  • Participants whose cards were not previously dealt due to a required tracker or check-in verification

Only eligible, active hands will receive remaining cards.

⚠️ This Action Is Permanent

Dealing remaining cards cannot be undone.

Only use this feature once the event has officially ended and no further card activity should occur.

🧠 Best Practices

πŸ’¬ Announce to participants before closing and/or dealing remaining cards
πŸ“ Export reports before and after dealing cards for recordkeeping
βœ… Ensure all Will Call participants are checked in before closing
🏁 Close your event promptly to trigger payout processing
